India will soon see first ever four-footed animal overpasses

We often heard the word ‘bridge’ which means in general, a structure stretching and providing passage over a gap like river, roadway, where it is open for pedestrians to walk and the vehicles to ply on.

But can you imagine four footed animals have a separate passage to walk on the bridges without any impediment!  Yes, it is true, India will now come out with a major infrastructure expansion project featuring five animal bridges.

If one is looking across the globe, animal crossings on highways be extant which include, Banff National Park, Collier, and Lee counties in Florida, Underpasses in southern California, Ecoducts, The Netherlands, Slaty Creek Wildlife Underpass, Calder Freeway, and Black Forest, Australia.

For the first time in India, Delhi-Mumbai expressway, will be specifically designed for animal bridges.

It comes up with the idea of five animal overpasses to motif so as to not disturb the surrounding environment and wildlife sanctuaries.  Principally, the bridges will give aid to the movement of wildlife especially Ranthambore Wildlife Corridor and Mukundra (Darrah) wildlife sanctuaries in Rajasthan.

The main reason behind to construct overpass especially for the animals is to avoid collision on the highway and will avow both [vehicle and animal] concomitantly unharmed and exist on the roads. Since the bridges will be designed thusly that one can see segment of a forest corridor at every 500-metre interval, which certainly enthuse to avoid conflict, and will allow safe passage to animals.  The main purpose of the passage is to build forest corridor so that animals get the sense of feeling and do not find any unusual.

National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) is in the forefront to develop these bridges.  It has been sourced that five underground stretches will be built with a combined length of 2.5 km and should have a boundary wall of eight metres with effective sound barrier to protect the local habitats and animals.

It is presumed that the project will begin in the next two months and if it goes well according to plan, India will witness first-ever animal overpasses, which will be lines similar to the animal bridges in the Netherlands.  No doubt the resolution is really significant for a sustainable model of infrastructure and natural habitat.

The completion of the bridges may take two years [2022] to be fully operational

National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) is showing eagerness to term the project as a sustainable model of development since it is promising to maintain the practice and strictly keep equal or greater value without degrading or endangering the ecosystem.

Every so often man-animal conflict is quite prevalent and the occurrence is known in various places of India, where in most of the cases animals are badly affected.

It has been reviewed that in National Highways, mostly animals are killed on the roads every day.  Most likely are to be found birds, reptiles, deer, etc. are killed on the world's roads every day. The number of animals killed in the United States has been estimated at a million per day and India is not lacking behind in the race.

One should comprehend we cannot ignore the animal and the plant populations, both are simultaneously co-exist and their connections are very imperative.  If we do so, there is a great risk of local extinction.

It is a quite common belief that whenever distinction arises, we tend to ignore about animal rights and its conservation.  Then the question does arise, should animal have rights, and quite simply, the answer is “Yes!” As the verbatim goes “Build bridges not walls.” Animals surely deserve to live their lives free from suffering and exploitation.

Perceptibly, it is a much welcome move to build animal overpass, since it ensures a safe and smooth passage to wildlife and to reduce human-animal conflict.

Swimming Pool

Generally, a swimming pool is swimming bath or wading pool, specifically structure and designed to hold water to enable swimming.

Build a swimming pool in your backyard brings relaxation and a lot of fun to add.  One should have sufficient space and enough money, whether to build a small pool or a large one, we all need to find a contractor.

After all, it propels a huge investment and should keep in mind, it may be done once in a lifetime, so the apt choice of contractors is very crucial.  Basically, the all offers are looked very alluring to attract the customers and one can get bemused to choose the right one. Here are the useful tips how to choose the good one.

Credential

·         First and foremost is to check credential, this will certainly give you the option to go-ahead.

·         To look whether the company is registered [license holder] or just an ordinary company, promises at large.

·         Before finalisation of the contractor proper documentation/proof is very imperative.

·         Location of the office and physical visit will be an added advantage, to get a sense of feeling.

Value of Experience

·         Experience pool contractors are required in order to make the shape of pool one is looking for and which will be the best design that fits the yard.  Their years of experience can make a worth decision.

·         A lot of skill is needed and with vast experience, is the best suited but look out for other options, offering low price can be eked out.

Recommendation

·         Valuable recommendation by the customers can be added advantage because one can know the feedback whether the client is satisfied or not.  So customer contacts are very essential.

·         Contact former clients, if feasible and pay attention of their saying, based on that make a final choice.

Analysis online

·         Constant communication is most pivotal factor to look upon and here one can review and read the various online sites for information to acquaint with and get a fair idea.

Down payment

·         It is important to check before finalisation of the contract, how much down payment they are asking.  It is a normal thing but between 10 and 20 per cent is quite ok.

·        A reputed company may be looking out for 25 per cent based upon loads of work they generally do but if a company is asking half of the agreed money in advance that means some mischief is going on.  It is advisable to look for other better option.

Insurance

·         Insurance companies are the pertinent ones should look out for.  It is quite understandable that no insurance company will offer a contract to anyone who is not licensed.

·         Insurance has an advantage of anything damages during construction works, then the insurance will cover all the damage you have suffered and if they do not have insurance be ready for lawsuit which is obviously a long and tiresome process.

 Warranty

·         It is a written guarantee and it is very crucial role to play in to build a swimming pool.  Since it needs a lot of money to spend on and repairs may be started anytime soon, so one needs to get a warranty of at least a few years on the pool.

·         It is issued to the purchaser by its manufacturer on the basis of an article and promised to repair or replace it if needed specifically within a period of time.

Conclusion

Obviously to build a pool is quite a big investment to pour in and nobody wants any mishap. It is once in a lifetime and it is very important to pay heed all the details minutely may big or small to choose the contractor who will be assigned to.

This airport is foresee to handle over 10 crore passengers by 2050, serving 37 domestic and 31 international destinations.

Main purpose

Largely, the big airlines are facing slot constraints due to a limited number of runways at the Indira Gandhi International Airport [IGI] and now they are envisaged to divert some traffic to the Jewar airport.

At this moment, IGI airport only has three runways, with adjacency travellers from the region [Western UP] will get help to access the new airport rather than coming all the way to the IGI airport.

The famous Taj Mahal in Agra, which registers high footstep of foreign tourists, keeping in mind, they can easily take direct international flights from the Jewar airport.

Pose a problem

The connectivity to the airport may create a problem.  Though, Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA), the implementing agency is intend to build a rapid metro corridor link between Jewar and IGI to shuttle passengers between the two airports.

After culmination of Jewar airport, it will be among one of the three largest airports in the world, including O'Hare International Airport in Chicago, Daxing International Airport in Beijing, China and Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport in Texas, US.

In fact, Greater Noida, lies within the National Capital Region of India’s capital - New Delhi and is contiguous to Noida, one of the largest industrial townships in Asia.

The main gist of planning and formation of this Airport will give a new momentum to the economy.  With this economy driven, the employment and trade will go simultaneously which in the long run woo the investors to come forward with open hands and put their money in his/her best interest.

Moreover, Government is allowing lands to Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise (MSME) to set up their operations.  With this venture, people are expecting to get employment directly and indirectly.

The ambitious project which encompassing advancement of world class airport, steering economy, expansion of trade and employment opportunities, give a sense of feeling to the residents and the traders and they are quite optimistic that it will assuredly change the face of Noida, Greater Noida and the real estate market.

However according to the experts, things will not certainly change overnight and one can see the full impact most probably in 7-10 years, then it will be more visible and the caution is that ‘dreams turn into reality’ once the airport becomes fully operational.

Get rid of Irregular Teeth – Healthy Mouth a Great Asset

In today’s culture, irregular or crooked teeth are regarded as being unattractive and undesirable.  A smile is the most striking part of one’s face.  It is the first thing people notice when they meet someone, and first impressions do count.

A healthy smile is not just important for good looks but signifies much more.  It often reflects good health, which can contribute importantly to good general health, a sparkling personality and a personal sense of well-being.

Straight and white teeth are the cosmetic dental treatments most patients request when visiting a dental clinic.

Causes of irregular teeth

Irregularities in teeth can be caused either by local factors or general factors.  Local factors are mainly:

- Gum diseases

- Trauma

- Premature loss of baby teeth

Obviously there is a need for treatment.  Besides being a deterrent of one’s smile, poorly arranged teeth can break off easily and can trap food particles that causes tooth decay and gum disease.  It also reduces the chewing ability thus affecting digestion and general health of an individual.

Orthodontic treatment or treatment used to correct irregularities of teeth employs removable of fixed appliances.  Generally, removable appliances are used mainly for breaking bad habits like thumb sucking, for minor tooth movements and as a retentive appliances in the post treatment phase.

Desirable tooth movements are brought about by fixed appliances like braces and wires as they exert a greater amount of force on the teeth.  Duration of treatment may vary from six months to 36 months depending upon the severity of the problem.

Surgical intervention may be required in certain cases.

One should know the important things to remember

·   -    A person is never too old to undergo orthodontic treatment though treatment  may be easier at younger age.  If already wearing braces get one’s teeth cleaned every three months.

-   Avoid sticky foods and hard foods which may cause breakage of appliance.

In human body, mouth is played an important part.  In the mouth are teeth that have chiefly three jobs – eating, talking and smiling and our teeth avow us to smile, talk to others, and eat foods.  Every person has a smile that is different from anyone else, and that makes us so special.

In general, a smile has other day-to-day benefits.  It can boost us greater confidence, as well as influence our social lives, careers and relationships.  Encompassing all these significances, it makes sense to give our oral health the best care possible.

As it says, a healthy smile can really mold the positivity of our mind-set, our visual appearance as well as improving the health of not only our mouth but our body too.  Now-a-days, everyone wants to look pretty and have the perfect smile they have always dreamed of and thanks to cosmetic dentistry.

In toto, oral health is vital and it has an asset for a human being.  It makes you more attractive, can boost the immune system, improved heart health and it allays the day-to-day stress that one deals with.

Always remember that the smile of a lifetime is yours not for the taking but for the making.

One should be discerned that irregular or crooked teeth are a prevalent problem chiefly experienced by many children, teens and adults.  In point of fact they do not require treatment unless they are causing any health problems or self-esteem issues.

Street smart Courage – A Bold Move

Satinder Kumar Singh, a traffic police constable is one of those rare courageous men, who showed great valour and saved a person from drowning.

On the fateful day, Singh was doing his duty at the Civil Line Circle in Wazirabad Bridge.  Basically, his duty time starts from 8.00 a.m. to 8.00 p.m.  It was late afternoon around 7.00 p.m. near Timarpur Main Intersection there was a [VIP delegate] in Volvo bus coming from Nepal to New Delhi on a special mission. While he was busy giving the go-ahead to this bus, suddenly he heard a groan.  As he hurried to look behind him, he saw at the nearby drain, which was 24 feet-long, people raising an uproar.  It was almost evening and completely dark, on approaching that drain he saw a man was neck-deep in the drain throwing his hands and trying utmost best to save himself.

This 24-feet long drain at this place is infested with small snakes and the condition of the drain is pathetic.  It is completely filled with waste material; heaps of garbage keep floating in the water with a stinky smell and is really difficult to withstand even for a minute.

Though it was darker at that time but Satinder, without a second thought, jumped into the open drain.  He grabbed the victim tightly who was about to sink but found it too difficult to drag him out.

Luckily, he found a small rope lying near the bush and with a ray of hope, he used it to rescue the victim, slightly injuring his hand in the process.  Soon thereafter, a PCR van was called and the person was handed over to them.

In a great show of presence of mind, Satinder saved that person from drowning.  The said person, Pramod Kumar, resident of a nearby colony, was in agony and later taken to a hospital by the local residents.  After thoroughly check-up and proper treatment he was normal.  According to the doctor, timely rescue save his life.

As Satinder smile and says, “Saab yeh to apna duty tha.”  Simple words coming from a simple fellow.

It was a matter of life and death but his act of bravery is a rare act of courage that cannot be overlooked.

By acting selflessly and save one’s life without any intention is obviously a solemn contribution to the whole of society.

Satinder’s bold move gives inspiration, which may be a small step but make an impact to his other colleagues to do the best.

Sanctity on the Streets

The festive mood is coming, as Durga Puja is approaching closer to the month of October, but this time the Durga Puja will be curtailed due to Covid-19, and this time it has been urged to the Organisers to ban the cultural program and main focus on social distancing among devotees during all festivities, starting from inauguration to immersion.

During this festival time, when the mood is festive and the spirit soars, these artisans are in a great demand.  They have their hands full during festivals like Durga Puja, Diwali, Ram Navami, Ganesh Chaturthi, Mahashivratri, etc.

While crossing the ITO bridge one can see from a distance a row of idols of god and goddesses facing the bank of the Yamuna.  The artistic grandeur of these idols is to be seen to be believed.

This area is popularly known as ‘Hathishala’ near ITO bridge where the spiritual and social life of people merge seamlessly to create an atmosphere of congeniality and brotherhood.  Their idols are sought after by devotees for far and near, particularly neighbouring cities like Ghaziabad, Faridabad, Gurugram and even states like Rajasthan, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, etc.

Mostly these people are engaged in this craft for more than a decade and during the four months of the peak festival season artisans can make a neat sum but for the rest of the year the margin is quite low.

Here, one can find the traditional art of clay idol making of 7 feet to 8 feet Durga Pratima.  After completion, the idol sells for Rs 4,000.  But for the artisans it is a constant struggle to make two ends meet.  Though, an exhibition takes place every year in Kumartuli, where the artisans have the opportunity to showcase their talent and this is the only sole exhibition, where they actually get the proper attention of the people coming across the globe.

The sordid picture is that due to lack of exhibition and opportunity especially the inherent creativity and personal touch of an artist is lost somewhere in this struggle to earn a livelihood.

Hathishala near [ITO bridge] is a well-known place and is home to scores of artisans, who make a living out of idol-making.  But in the absence of government patronage, their creative energies remain suppressed.

What is pity that this majestic art is slowly dying and if not preserved in earnest, this tradition of devotional art will vanish like the members of this artisan community whose talent is compromised in the dingy slums where they elbow grease their way securing the necessities of life.

Empowering women and girl to end child labour

The term “child labour” is often defined as work that deprives children of their childhood, their potential and their dignity, and that is ...
